Dear Families,

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend, this was the last four day week until the end of the year!

Here are the reminders for this week!

1. Eureka! Science is here Wednesday and Thursday this week to present to our students in their classrooms.

2. Our Aboriginal Girls Group will be having a year-end celebration on Wednesday.

3. Our Flag Football players will conclude their season on Thursday at the Jamboree. The Jamboree lasts all day, so our players will be away from school all day Thursday.

4. PAC organized hot lunch (Senor Froggy’s) is this Friday.

Upcoming/Reminders:


  • Ms. Kipp will be holding a Book Fair next week from Monday to Thursday (May 28-31) to raise funds for the Library.

  • Our May Recognition Assembly is Tuesday, May 29th at 8:45 am.

Weekly Update - May 13

Dear Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the amazing sunshine this weekend and a special thank you to all of our wonderful Arthur Stevenson moms, I hope your day was spent doing what you love to do!

Here are the reminders for this week!

1. Hot, hot hot! Tomorrow’s weather forecast is for temperatures in the low 30s. Please be sure to send your child with hat to wear outside and lather your child up with sunscreen in the morning as students will be out at recess and lunch.  

2. Monday is the Zone track meet at Hillside Stadium for students who in grades 4-7 who qualified at our school track meet. Students need to have their permission slips returned to school by 8:30 in the morning. The bus will be departing shortly after morning announcements. Students who do not have a signed permission slip will be unable to attend. For students who are attending, please be sure to pack lots of water, a hat and sunscreen as it will be hot and sunny at the stadium tomorrow.

3. Ms. Sorensen’s class is off to the SPCA and Riverside Park Monday morning.

4. The final SPARK session for students entering Kindergarten in September will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.

5. The district finals of the 1000 m and 1200 m races will be held on Wednesday.

6. Thursday is the District track meet at Hillside Stadium. Participants for the District meet will be determined after the Zone track meet on Monday.

7. Friday is a Professional Development Day for school staff, so the the school will be closed for students.

8. Next Monday, May 21st, is the Victoria Day holiday, so the school will be closed.

Upcoming/Reminders:


  • Class placement request forms are due to the office by Tuesday, May 15th. Forms can be picked up from Mrs. Scharien at the front office.

Dear Families,

Here are the reminders for this week.

1. PAC meeting at 6:30 Monday evening. Babysitting is available.

2. On Tuesday, our Flag Football team hosts Lloyd George after school.

3. On Wednesday we will have our grade 4-7 school track meet. The track meet will run all day. A track meet concession is available for students in grades 4-7.

4. Flower orders for students in Mrs. Drobot’s, Mr. Scott’s, and Mrs. Finley’s classes arrive on Thursday.

5. Mrs. Hawkings’ and Ms. Sorensen’s classes are each holding a Celebration of Learning in their classrooms Friday morning at 8:30.

6. Zone finals for the 1000m and 1200m races will take place at Westmount on Friday after at 10:00 am.

7. PAC organized Hot Lunch (pizza) is this Friday.

Upcoming/Reminders:

  • Zone Track Meet at Hillside Stadium on Monday, May 14.

  • District Track Meet at Hillside Stadium on Thursday, May 17.

  • Professional Development Day on Friday, May 18 - no school for students.

SOGI 1 2 3 has launched new SOGI 1 2 3 Parent Videos that address questions about SOGI 1 2 3 and SOGI-inclusive education in schools. The videos are designed for parents and family members to view and learn about SOGI 1 2 3 in various grade-levels. The goal of the videos is to debunk some of the common misinformation in the media and to support parents in their understanding of SOGI-inclusive education. The SOGI 1 2 3 Parent Videos are available to view and download now on SOGIeducation.org/parents.

Here are the reminders for this week.

1. Our Flag Football team travels to Westmount Tuesday after school.  

2. Young Artists Conference takes place on Wednesday.

3. Young Authors Conference takes place on Friday.

4. Next Monday is the May PAC meeting @ 6:30 in the ASES Library.

Upcoming/Reminders:

We will be having our School Track Meet on Wednesday, May 9th. The track meet is for students in grades 4-7 only. We are looking for volunteers for our track meet, so if you are able to take some time and help out please let me know (greilly@sd73.bc.ca) or Ms. Day (sday@sd73.bc.ca).
