    Weekly Update

    Hi Families,

I trust that you had a relaxing long weekend with family and friends. There are very few reminders for this week.

    1. This week our school will be doing a 'gem blitz' to recognize pro-social behaviour. Adults will be using the Virtues, our behaviour matrix, and the Zones of Regulation as a guide to look for and acknowledge wonderful student behaviour with gems. We will be doing 'gem blitzes' one week per month throughout the year. Each time we do a blitz, the goal is to have more gems handed out than the previous blitz.

    2. Our first PAC organized hot lunch is this Friday with pizza being delivered to students who have ordered.

    3. Volleyball practices are ongoing this week. League play starts next week, with boys playing on Tuesdays and girls playing on Thursdays.

    Have a wonderful week!

    Mr. Reilly

Here are some reminders for the first week of October:

    1. The October PAC meeting is Monday starting at 6:30 in the school library. As always, childminding is available.

    2. There will be an Art Starts performance titled, Masabo, for all students on Wednesday starting at 9:00 am in the gym.

    3. The next cross country run of the season is Wednesday after school at Dallas Elementary.

    4. On Friday, all students will get to enjoy the Earth Rangers presentation starting at 10:45 in the gym. In addition, students in Ms. Day’s and Ms. Kovacs’ class will get a second class presentation Friday afternoon.

    6. If you didn’t get a chance to connect with your child’s teacher on either Thursday or Friday last week, please phone the school or email your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting.

    Hello Families,

Thank you to our amazing PAC for hosting a super fun Welcome Back BBQ last Thursday. It was great to see so many families!

Here are some reminders for this week:

    1. Tuesday morning is Raise-a-Reader in Kamloops. Our school will have a parent volunteering to sell newspapers to families as kids are dropped off at school in the morning. Please donate what you can. All proceeds go to Literacy programs in the Kamloops area.

    2. Our Terry Fox Run is Tuesday afternoon starting at 1:45. Please join us if you can, as it is always helpful to have lots of adult eyes available when 300 students are going for a run. Please ensure that you have signed your child's walking permission slip to ensure your child can participate in the run. As well, we are asking families to bring in a "Toonie for Terry" if possible. All proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation.

    3. On Wednesday we hold our Cross Country Run at Westsyde Centennial Park, starting at 3:15. If you are able to help out, please let Mrs. Hawkings or Mr. Scott know.

    4. On Thursday and Friday, students will be dismissed at 12:30 as both these days are early closure days to accommodate parent teacher meetings. If you have not heard from your child's teacher, please contact your child's teacher to organize a meeting. Please note that this meeting is more of a meet and greet in which teachers can talk about how your child is settling in to classroom routines and what kind of program/learning your child will be involved in this year.

    5. We will have our September Recognition Assembly at 8:45 Friday morning. Classroom teachers will be in contact with the parents of students being recognized.

    Have a great week!

    Mr. Reilly
